SWAU MBA Program - Online and Weekend Schedule

Count On Southwestern to Give You the Professional Edge in a Christian Learning Environment!

The objectives of the MBA program include providing students with the knowledge and skills that will help them excel in areas of teamwork, communication, creative thinking, change and development, diversity management, decision-making, and more importantly, trustfulness.  Our goal is to make a difference in the preparation of future business leaders.

In order to help nurture more professional workers to become tomorrow’s leaders and excel in their workplace, Southwestern Adventist University’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program recently has been restructured to make it more convenient, accessible and affordable.

Easy, Flexible and Convenient to Fit Your Work and Study!

To earn an MBA through SWAU’s full-time program, students may complete 36 credits, divided between five required online and seven required courses offered on Sundays. International or out-of-state students may choose to take those five online courses before they arrive on the SWAU main campus to complete the remaining seven courses.

The curriculum provides a broad understanding of the entire business enterprise, while allowing students to explore managerial and accounting aspects of business in greater depth. Business students often conduct a management consultant project (e.g. to save some local business in crisis), learn about publishing articles, and participate in professional contests such as the S. I. F. E. (Students in Free Enterprises) community service program.

The SWAU business department has assembled a full-time faculty of Adventist scholars who are committed to providing students with a rich Christian educational experience, inside and outside the classroom.  Due to the friendly campus, the high quality of the business education,  the pleasant weather and the accessibility to the greater Dallas metropolitan area, many international students have found Southwestern Adventist University to be the best choice for obtaining their dream degree, building their career future, and starting their family.  For MBA/BBA Application:  http://www.swau.edu/admissions/apply.asp

MBA Admission Policies

The university admits both full-time and part-time students.

A full-time student is expected to register for 9 or more credits each semester to maintain full-time status.

It is international students’ responsibility to maintain lawful F-1 student status with registration of  9 or more credits each semester.

Regular Admission with Conditional Acceptance

a) are in their final semester of course work needed for graduation,

b) are taking less than 10 credit hours to complete their undergraduate degree, and

c) have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher may be conditionally admitted.

This allows students to start the MBA program during their last semester of undergraduate work, by enrolling in a maximum of two MBA courses (thereby giving them a full academic load).  If the student does not graduate in accordance with the terms of their senior contract, this option may not be repeated.   Classes taken under this option may not count as both BBA and MBA credits.  (Students would not be eligible for financial aid for these graduate classes).

2.   Applicants with a composite score less than 950, but greater than 800, (GPA x 200 + GMAT  =  composite score), may be conditionally accepted.

3.   Applicants who do not meet the conditional acceptance score but who in the judgment of the Graduate Admission Committee have sufficient professional work experiences and qualifications, and /or the capacity to successfully undertake the MBA program will be considered and may be conditionally admitted.

4.   International Students who have not taken the GMAT may be admitted conditionally, but must complete the GMAT (and attain an acceptable composite score) during the first semester of the MBA program.

5.  Students who have been accepted conditionally to the MBA program must remove all deficiencies and earn minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 by the time 12 graduate hours are completed.

Note:

Applicant who have been unable reach the required TOEFL, or MELAB score may be accepted provided they participate in SWAU's English as a Second Language Program (ESL).

The ESL Program Director will administer tests to discover where the applicant needs the most help and assign classes that will assist them in developing English skills that are necessary to study at the graduate level.  The applicant may take these ESL classes as suggested, as the ESL Program Director's discretion.

MBA Concentrated In Finance

We Just Added MBA in Finance to Our MBA Program!

http://business.swau.edu

We Just Added MBA in Finance to Our Business Program, effective in 2009!  If you are considering this professional major, and would like to work as a financial service provider for corporation, banks, hospitals, school administration, government, church conference, profit or non-profit organizations in the future,  please contact me at any time at your earliest convenience.

Finance is an important business field within business administration and management. It focuses on the proper and optimal application of resources such as capital, credit, loans, budget, savings and resource allocation. According to my understanding, there have been many advances in modern financial theory and practice that make the field exciting and offer as many challenges as opportunities for the serious student.

The approach to teaching business finance at SWAU will emphasize analytical (quantitative and qualitative) proficiency, familiarity with financial analysis software and information processing tools, and the use of "hands-on," applied cases and computerized financial exercises.  It is our intention that our courses enable students to become competent professionals in the field of finance, within a deeper, wider, and more ethical context.

Our other two MBA concentrations are Accounting (CPA) and Management/Leadership. You may consider these two.  For further information, please click http://business.swau.edu

Should you have additional questions considering this Finance major, please consult me at 817-202-6224.  I appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you.

Should you have additional questions, please consult me at 817-202-6224.  I appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you.
