I am very pleased to announce that our SWAU Free Enterprise (SIFE) team took first place at the 2009 Dallas Regional SIFE competition on Friday, April 3.  This will be counted as the 9th Regional Championship we have had won since 1997.  Praise our Lord!   We’ve just proved the quality of Christian education again.

In total, 54 colleges were in attendance last Friday. Colleges and universities at the competition represented the states of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Minnesota, and so forth. There were many public state universities in this competition such as University of Texas, University of  Ozark, Louisiana State University, Howard Pane University, Texas A&M, Texas Woman’s University, Texas Christian University, The University of Texas at Dallas, Kansas State University, and etc.

Once again, this year our SWAU SIFE presentation team wowed judges with their beautiful crafted presentation and dynamic description of projects the team has worked on this year.

Congratulations to all SIFE members and the faculty advisor, Roger Dunder.  Thank you for making a huge difference locally and globally. The team is now preparing for the SIFE USA National Exposition, May 11-13 in Philadelphia.

SWAU SIFE program is a community service organization formed 12 years ago at Southwestern, and has been using the positive power of business to inspire students, empower seniors, change lives and transform community.  Its goal is to provide our students the tools necessary to spread information and assistance about free-market, economic principles and entrepreneurial opportunity to fledgling entrepreneurs around the world.   In the previous years, we are very grateful of the financial sponsorship from First State Bank administrators, Mr. Peter Bennis and Ms. Amy Lingo, and the administrative support from Dr. Karl Konrad and Dr. Tom Bunch.  Without them, we will be not able to ensure the continuity of SIFE program at Southwestern.

During SIFE Regional Competition last Friday, Sam’s Club district manager, Julie Norris, made a special trip to view our SIFE project presentation.  After the presentation was over, she made a comment that she was deeply impressed by the presentation and will visit our campus shortly to recruit our business students into her management team.  Last year our SIFE member, Kimberly Burt, was recruited by Sam’s Club as the assistant manager.

Join SWAU Business Program and SIFE team,  and we will nurture you to become a true servant leader in the future!
